Day Two Highlights: EACHEA Ministerial Conference and Mini-exhibition

Kampala, Uganda, September 10, 2025

The First Regional Ministerial Conference on the East African Common Higher Education Area (EACHEA) is currently underway in Kampala, Uganda, and will conclude on 11th September 2025. The Conference is being held alongside an exhibition showcasing Higher Education Regulatory Institutions from the Partner States, including the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU).

Organised under the theme “Advancing Regional Integration through Harmonised Higher Education Systems for Sustainable Development of East Africa,” the Conference seeks to advance harmonisation, strengthen quality assurance, and promote the mutual recognition of academic qualifications across the East African region.

In addition, the Conference aims to review progress made in facilitating the mobility of higher education students and fostering the development of skills and talents. These objectives are central to the implementation of the Common Market Protocol, one of the four key pillars of the East African Community (EAC) integration agenda.

The three-day Conference has been convened by the Regional Forum of Higher Education Regulatory Agencies in collaboration with the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA).
