Advancing the Internationalisation Agenda: Insights from Day Two of the TANZIE ToT Workshop

The First Training of Trainers (ToT) Workshop under the TANZIE Project – Tanzania Internationalisation Strategies for Higher Education (2025 - 2028) entered its second day today, 8th October 2025, at Mzumbe University (MU) in Morogoro. The workshop, which commenced on 7th October, continues to bring together participants from Tanzanian and European partner institutions for a series of interactive sessions designed to enhance capacity for internationalisation across university institutions.

The TANZIE Project, an Erasmus+ initiative, aims to strengthen the international dimension of Tanzania’s higher education through the development of robust systems, policies, and skills that promote global engagement. It brings together a consortium of institutions: Mzumbe University (MU), Muslim University of Morogoro (MUM), Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), and Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) from Tanzania, in partnership with the University of Alicante (Spain), Saarland University (Germany), and the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD).

Building on the discussions from the first day, today’s sessions focused on Assessing the Quality of Internationalisation and Fundraising for Tanzanian university institutions. Participants engaged in practical exercises and case studies on how to design, implement, and evaluate institutional internationalisation strategies. Facilitators from the European partner institutions shared valuable insights on mobility programmes, intercultural competencies, and quality assurance frameworks that support global learning environments.

Speaking during the session, participants emphasised the importance of the workshop in equipping them with the knowledge and tools to become internationalisation champions within their respective universities. The programme also provided a platform for peer learning, encouraging participants to share experiences and best practices from their institutional contexts.

The workshop will conclude on 9th October 2025, with participants expected to develop strategic action plans to guide their institutions in advancing internationalisation goals under the TANZIE Project framework.
