Prof. Charles D. Kihampa
Executive Secretary
Prof. Charles Domminick Kihampa is an Executive Secretary for the Tanzania Commission for Universities (TCU) and Chairman of the Tanzania Chemical Society (TCS). He holds BSc. with Education, MSc. and PhD in Chemistry degrees from the University of Dar es Salaam. He worked as a postgraduate research student at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of Potsdam, Germany; International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE), Nairobi, Kenya; and the National Institute for Medical Research (NIMR) in Tanzania. Prior to his appointment, he was a Dean in the School of Environmental Science and Technology, Ardhi University, where he also served as a Director of Undergraduate Programmes for 6 years. He has a vast experience in University Management and Administration. He has participated in various Higher Education Forums within and outside the country. He has also served as Secretariat to the University Senate and the Chairman of the School Board at Ardhi University.
 
As an academician, Professor Kihampa has lectured various chemistry courses, supervised postgraduate students, conducted community outreach and research in the field of environmental chemistry/sciences. His research interests include assessment of micro-pollutants, heavy metals, pesticides and pharmaceuticals; environmental monitoring and management;environmental impact (audit)  
assessment, waste management, climate change, disaster and development, and community risk assessment. He has been involved in various funded research works, conferences and consortiums within and outside Tanzania. He has supervised more than 25 students on their masters’ and PhDs’ research work, published more than 30 articles in peer reviewed journals and several reports for community services’ assignments. He has also served as external examiner in various universities. He is a member of a number of Professional, Academic and Research Associations including the Tanzania Chemical Society (TCS), African Regional Postgraduate Programme in Insect Science Scholars Association (ASA), Natural Product Research for Eastern and Central Africa (NAPRECA) and DAAD Alumni.

 


Dr. Kokuberwa Katunzi-Mollel

Director of Admissions
Coordination and Database Management

 

Dr Kokuberwa Katunzi-Mollel is the Director responsible for coordination of admissions and database management at the TCU. Dr Mollel completed her M.A. and PhD in Information Science from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
 
She initially trained as an education professional and holds Diploma and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She has taught at the Department of Information Studies at the UDSM for 12 years (2004-2016) specializing in Information and Communication Theories, Information entrepreneurship and Information Retrieval Systems. She has supervised numerous Post Graduate students in her areas of expertise. 
 
Prior to her current post she was the Director for the Centre for Continuing Education at the UDSM. Also served as Head of ICT Unit and Head of Reference Sections at the University of Dar es Salaam Library between 2004 and 2016. She serves as the Commissioner for the Tanzania Commission for Science and Technology (COSTECH), the National Commission for UNESCO, Councilor to the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) and member of the technical working Committees of the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) and the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS).
 
She has also served as an External Examiner in different Tertiary institutions, Journal Editor and facilitated different workshops in areas related to Gender and Development, Data Management, Information Retrieval, Research Methods for Social Sciences as well as Pedagogical Skill training. 

Dr.Telemu Jagadi Kassile
Director of Accreditation

Dr. Telemu Jagadi Kassile is the Director of Accreditation with effect from 6th March, 2019. Prior to his appointment, Dr. Kassile was the Principal Accreditation Officer at the Tanzania Commission for Universities since August, 2018. Dr. Kassile has also served as a Coordinator of Quality Assurance Bureau at the Sokoine University of Agriculture (SUA) for one year from July, 2017 to July, 2018. Prior to this post, he was the Head of Department of Biometry and Mathematics at SUA for three years from 1st July, 2014 – 30th June, 2017.
 
Dr. Kassile has a vast teaching experience of 18 years in University institutions, two of which he served as a Senior Lecturer at SUA where he joined in 2000. Dr. Kassile is an economist and statistician by training. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Dar es Salaam, Master’s degrees in Biostatistics (MSc. Biostatistics) and Applied Statistics (MSc. Applied Statistics), both from the University of Hasselt (formerly, Limburgs Universitair Centrum)  in Belgium, and a BSc. (General) majoring in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of Dar es Salaam. Dr. Kassile also holds several professional awards.

Mr. Buyamba Mkina Kassaja

Director of Corporate Services​

Mr. Buyamba Mkina Kassaja is the Director responsible for corporate services, providing advisory and operational support to the Commission on Human Resources, Administration, Finance, Planning and Research.  

Mr. Kassaja is a professionally qualified Accountant and Human Resources  with senior-level experience in Accounting, Finance, Planning, Human resources and Administration. He holds a Master in Business Administration (Finance), Bachelor of Public Administration, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has a vast working experience of 20 years in both private and public sectors at national and international levels.

Prior to his current post, at a different time, he was a Manager of Human Resources and Administration at Tanzania Cashewnut Board (TCB); Mzinga Corporation; and Tanzania Employment Services Agency (TAESA). He has served as Senior Accountant at Dar es Salaam Development Corporation (DDC).

Also, he served as a National Technical Advisor - Capacity Building of the Urban Local Government Strengthening Programmes (ULGSP) at a World Bank Group –Tanzania; Business Manager at Mtwara Urban Water Supplies and Sanitation Authority (MTUWASA); and Operations Manager at Admedia (T).
